I suck at blogging, I just need to accept that fact and move on! Last year these girls and I went to Disneyland and we decided to go again this year! My friend Jodi and I went a day early and stayed in Huntington Beach. We stayed at a gorgous hotel down there (Shorebreak hotel) right near the ocean. We didn't think about it at the time but we ended up being there on Valentine's Day. I guess we just don't celebrate it right in Elk Grove because seriously everybody was in a couple! We were walking down the street and there was a group of guys and as were walking past they asked us if they wanted to take a stray dog home. I guess I really am blonde at heart because I said "Oh no, thank you though"! After we walked away I looked at Jodi and said they really don't have a dog do they? We got a pretty good laugh about that. THEN we went to have dinner at a resteraunt, that our hotel friend, Ryan, did not recommend but it was right across the street from the hotel and seemed low key enough. It was a Mexican place called Fred's. We get to dinner and immediately we feel like this place just has a weird vibe. There were 2 guys next to us and they asked us how we were "surviving" Valentine's Day. Um, being single is not THAT dramatic!! Jodi's plan was that we try one chip with salsa and if it's bad we leave, we're on vacation, we're supposed to enjoy the food! So we took one bite and decided it was NOT vacation worthy, plus the guys behind us were really creepy and our waitresses were dressed like Hooter's girls (not judging these girls, but the food really wasn't good!) so we left and ended up eating at BJ's. We split a pizza and had a poozokie with a little heart for dessert. All in all it was a good Valentine's Day! Next day we got up watched some Laguna Beach (yes, I know 10 years later I still love it!) went for a run and shopped around Huntington Beach. There was an amazing gelato place that we got some gelato at and a really cute little market that I bought a few things at. Then we decided we would actually go to Laguna Beach (since I am slightly obsessed) and ended up going to Laguna and Newport Beach. We might have even gone to the store that Stephen (one of the guys from LB) used to work at. Fast forward to later and we decided we wanted to eat at a place that a member of the Hills show had eaten at so we decided on Don Antonio's. We ended up getting completely turned around and 3 hours in LA traffic later and we were at the resteraunt. It was okay, but it would have been better if we actually SAW someone from the show. We ended the night with cupcakes from Sprinkles and headed to our hotel in Anaheim. The next 2 days we covered Disneyland and California Adventures and it was a blast. Getting there when it opens is definitely key. The day we did California Adventures we were the first people on Tower of Terror and rode California Screamin' 2-3 times. I had all of my favorite rides done before 10. Same thing with Disneyland, by 10 we had gone on the Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain and I think a few others. That night we were riding on the train and we were talking about the rides we did last year. When I was in HS our Senior trip was Disneyland and somehow I got the idea in my head that Peter Pan was the best, most amazing ride ever! I made them wait in line for 2 hours (might have been longer)! The ride broke down but we did finally get on it, and it was about a minute long! I told them I was never going on ther ride again and that I was just over Peter Pan! The lady on the train heard me, I am a little loud and she gave me a voucher for any ride, so of course we went on PETER PAN...and no matter what anyone says that ride is amazing! I might not want to wait 3 hours in line, but it doesn't get much better then that! All in all it was a great trip and I am so lucky to have such great friends!

End of 2011
2011 was an AMAZING year and we are so happy that it is over! We went to Vegas for the first time and got to hang out with Shawn's best friend and girlfriend (became fiance in Vegas)! It was a great time and hopefully we can go again soon. We celebrated Halloween and invited some of Shawn's friends from the Wilton Fire Department and had a little party...the dogs even got to celebrate. Then it was time for Thanksgiving. I didn't get any pictures but we went to my grandparents and celebrated with them. So glad that we go the chance to do that, since we didn't know at the time but it was my grandpa's last Thanksgiving. Then before we knew it Christmas was here and Shawn FINALLY finished his paramedic "internship" and became an official paramedic. We celebrated on Christmas Eve with the traditional family dinner. I volunteered our house for salads and I'm so grateful that we have family so close by. BTW-the sweater is part of my "ugly" sweater tradition. I am so grateful for all of the blessings that we received in 2011, but since I'm writing this almost a year later, I know that 2012 was where it's really at!!!

Pirates and Giant Pumpkins
Once again, the Giant Pumpkins have come and gone. This is my 5th festival working with the Parks and Rec Department and I have to say it was one of my favorites!! The theme was "Shiver Me Pumpkins" and people really went all out with the theme. On Saturday I got to work in the Produce area again and see all of the pumpkins weighed and all of the huge produce. This year's winning pumpkin weighed 1684.5 and the gentleman that won went on to win again a week later at the Half Moon Bay weigh-off with his 1,704 pound pumpkin. Crazy!! And just to give you an idea our festival pays $6 per pound for the winning pumpkin. Then Sunday I worked the Entertainment area, and got to see some pretty cool stuff...like fire dancers.

The Regatta, pumpkins turned into boats.

So happy to be done entering in all of the information!

San Francisco Giants
After we went to a Giants game for our birthdays we decided we wanted to go to another one! Shawn found out from his boss that his company had seats. Well let me just say company seats are way better then seats you would get regularly, and bonus, they give them to you at face value, instead of the crazy prices that you get online. We had such a good time and I'm so glad that my husband is into sports and that we can enjoy them together. He even bought me a Baby Giraffe hat. The clubhouse area was super nice, had lots of cool memorabilia stuff and Peanuts characters. It was such a fun game and Shawn and I always have fun together, hopefully we will get to go to more SF Giants games next year!

The Bonds Visit!
The Bonds came to visit us over Labor Day weekend. We had a great time with them!! We went to the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, San Francisco (no pictures) and Six Flags (no pictures). Which I feel really bad about the Six Flags one because Brian got picked to be one of the volunteers during the dolphin show. He had to play karaoke with the dolphins and the crowd decided that he lost, so he got SOAKED!! It was so great to see them!! Amy and I got to have some girl shopping time and the boys got to hang out, have sushi and see a movie. It was so much fun and we can't wait to see them again!
