A few months back Shawn and I were over at Brent and Teresa's and somehow we came up on the subject of vision and Lasik. I have been in contacts and glasses since middle school. I couldn't see the alarm clock when I woke up in the morning and was pretty much useless without my glasses or contacts. I've had 2 corneal infections from wearing my contacts too long, because I hated wearing glasses. Well I guess I didn't express how nice it would be to not be a slave to the contacts or glasses. When we were talking Brent said that he was going to schedule a consultation for Lasik, not to be outdone I told Shawn that I wanted to schedule one too. He actually was totally for it! I always thought that it would be one of those things that I would get "one day" but it's expensive and to be honest I was always a little afraid of it. Well I met with Dr. Reed from Griffin and Reed Eye Care Center and I was sold. I was a perfect candidate for Lasik and so Shawn and I talked about it and decided to go for it. I had to wear my glasses for 2 weeks to let my eyes get back to their "normal" state. I guess contacts change the shape and really dry your eyes out. I decided that I didn't want to wear glasses for Byron and Christina's wedding so I actually had it done the week before their wedding. I almost started crying after having it done just because it is so life changing. Seriously, I wish I had it done years ago. It's been amazing. Shawn and I have gone away 2 times since June and the fact that I don't have to worry about extra contacts, solution, glasses or anything!! I LOVE being able to see and I'm so glad that I went with Griffin and Reed. They are the BEST and made the whole process so comfortable. I went in last week for my 3rd follow up and I have 20/15 vision! Considering that in my first appointment with them they had the big E on the screen and I couldn't even see it! I don't think Shawn even knew my eyes were that bad! I am so glad that Shawn supported me with this BIG decision, it's been life changing!
Shawn was able to go into the room right behind us and got some pictures, and a video. The video wouldn't upload but it's pretty cool, you can hear the laser actually going and hear me on my drugs. They give you a pill to calm you down, it worked pretty well! I told the nurse I felt like I was on Space Mountain with all of the lights!
They offered a teddy bear for me to hold onto. Even with the drugs I was pretty nervous, oh and don't even get me started on the Final Destination previews, so glad that those started AFTER I already had surgery. I hadn't watched any video before the surgery, I just read a lot, I knew that if I saw anything I would probably back out!
Getting all of the settings ready
Just waiting for the doctor!
Me and Dr. Reed after surgery, my eyes were watery but at this point I could still see the lady taking the picture, which is more then I could have done before!! Oh and I was able to drive myself to the appointment the next day, sans contacts!!

Congrats! That's so exciting. A friend of mine in school just had hers done and I'm so jealous! I like hearing success stories because I used to be very nervous and skeptical. Now I'm just wondering when and how I can have it done too!
That's so great Britt! How did I not know until just now that you had this done??? I'm so happy for you:)
