Have any of you ever used this? Shawn and I went to Bel-Air last night and he decided that we were going to do the "self-checkout" (I use that term very loosely since we didn't do it ourselves!) So we get up to the "self-checkout" and I look to him and say "Are you sure that you want to do this?"...knowing that in the past I have had SERIOUS issues with these machines before. And he says "Yes, it's so much faster and I don't have to talk to anyone so I like using this." So we start checking out our items and of course being the great wife I am :) ...and being a past grocery clerk I decide that I am going to help him. So he's checking and I'm bagging and hitting buttons on the screen and I look down and see that the "bagging area" is completley full...so I decide that it's time to put the bagged items into the grocery cart. Well then the machine starts beeping at us and telling us that we need to put the items back in the bagging area. So then I grab the bags again and put them back in the bagging area. Then the machine beeps again and says that there are unidentified objects in the bagging area. OK SERIOUSLY? When did it become this difficult to by some gosh darn groceries? I used to work in a grocery store....this used to be my job...and I can't even figure it out! So of course this happens a couple other times and Shawn and I are both completley annoyed with each other and both of us are being very vocal about our annoyance...so one of the store clerks comes over and explains to us how the whole system works and then clears us out of mangled mess that our machine has now become and while walking out of the store we both decide that we will never use the self-checkout line again....well when we're together anyways! Have any of you had this same problem...or are we just completley incompetent?

Self-Checkout

Okay seriously, I thought it was just me. Everytime (without fail) something goes wrong with those stupid machines. My kids used to like them cuz they could help me scan and bag but when they found out there was no one there to give them smarties it wasn't worth it anymore.
lol you don't want to hear my answer! haha they've had those for years in texas. you just have to go slow. i love them!
Correction: I do like them...if they worked!! LOL
Brittany,
You guys are definitely not alone! I wrote a post a few times ago that said something about these stupid machines too...I personally, do not use them unless I have like three items. Because of the bagging issue!!! I don't understand what you are supposed to do when the bagging area is over flowing. How do you switch bags?
Marc loves the challenge. We have the same exchange, "Are you sure you want to do this?" And I step back to let him handle it. He has gotten pretty good. He now thinks he's the self bagging master! :)
I love self checkouts, thats pretty much all I use at walmart anymore, unless I have lots of stuff. I used to get frustrated with them, but now I know all of the quirks of the machine, and it is easy for me now. Brian hates going in a normal line now!
Hey Brittany!! I'm so glad you found my blog and now I have found yours. It looks like you are doing well! We just moved to the bay area, it is so nice to be back in CA and close to family. We are having a little boy around the 30th of this month, so we are really excited about that. Anyway good to hear from you!
definately no good especially when you have more than like 3 items! and i like how I chose the same blog template as you! totally didn't do that on purpose.
I totally agree. I have only used them a few times and it is not that easy. BTW I love the new blog backgrounds you've put on.
Oh I hate those self check out things! We always end up needing help from the clerks anyway!
